The Northern Session – a 6 hour celebration of Northern Soul

The Northern Session takes place for the first time at We Invented The Weekend.

This music was ‘invented’ here in the North West and was very much a ‘weekend’ thing with all- nighters drawing music lovers from all around the country, in the 1960s to the Twisted Wheel on Whitworth St Manchester and then from 1973 to the world-famous Wigan Casino.

Held from 11am on the Sunday in The Lowry’s amazing Compass Room, the 6-hour session will not only feature uplifting music, but dance workshops and you are invited to ask one of our DJs, Richard Searling, everything you have ever wanted to know about Northern Soul.
