When is a table not a table?
When the fantastically inventive Altogether Otherwise get their hands (and yours!) on it! Here’s what their brilliant team will be challenging the table to do at WITW.
The IKEA Sandsberg Dining Table (priced at £39) is the best-selling table in the UK. IKEA themselves call it ‘a strong partner for all sorts of hard-wearing games and hobbies once the guests have left.’ Couldn’t agree more. In a domestic setting the dining table is the stage for weekend DIY, hobbies and fun.
Altogether Otherwise have adapted four tables to become specialists in specific domestic hobbies. It’s time to find out just what an ‘ordinary’ table can do…
The Drawing Table
Feels a bit embarrassing to give you instructions here on how to draw. Pick up a pencil and drag it about on some paper. Why not sit opposite a friend or a stranger and draw each other.
Try not looking at the paper as you do so.
What larks!
The Pasta Table
Pasta means paste. That’s all it is really.
Mix flour and water and maybe an egg until you have something you can play with.
Make it into shapes. The Italians have invented hundreds of pasta shapes.
They’re all just made up by people messing around.
What’s stopping you?
The Weaving Table
This is IKEA’s first loom.
The loom is one of the oldest machines, and oddly one of the first computers.
Over, under, over, under.
That’s the way!
The Printing Table
Printing is responsible for the rapid spread of knowledge that led to the Reformation.
But don’t worry, these prints won’t do that.
These prints are just for fun.
Ink, pressure, lift, repeat.
Therefore, THIS TABLE IS THE MOST CREATIVE PIECE OF FURNITURE AND ONE OF OUR HOLIEST RELICS. Join in, the change will do you good.
