Play Street: U-Build Streetscape

Play Streets began right here in Salford in the 1930s. In 2026, we’re bringing them back!

Working with HemingwayDesign and University of Salford students, U-Build has constructed Play Street using modular building systems. Across the weekend, join hands-on workshops to build playful, adaptable furniture and explore how shared spaces for play and social connection can be shaped by the people who use them.

  • Time: Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June
  • Location: Play Street, Lowry Plaza
  • Up to 15 participants per session
  • All ages welcome, with young children under adult supervision
  • No booking required – just drop in!
