The Everyday Marvellous
The Everyday Marvellous is a creative project currently based at Loaves & Fishes and working in collaboration with researchers at the University of Salford. Its aim is to explore the unusual techniques to access creativity which were invented by the art movement Surrealism almost a century ago – to see how useful they might be for well-being today.
One strand of the project has been to uncover Salford’s unconscious dream village, Alsdorf (a recombination of the letters!) and to make work themed around what that may look like.
At We Invented the Weekend, we invite you to contribute a character – your other half if you like – to the population of Alsdorf, using a simple game invented by the Surrealists.
With your permission, these characters may then be used by the participants of the project in further creative work. This work will then be uploaded to the website The Everyday Marvellous as a document of the collaboration.
